Meet the R Lucas Construction and Design Team
President and CEO
Ron Lucas founded R Lucas Construction and Design in 2005. When it comes to owning a small business, he followed his father’s footsteps. Ron’s dad owned a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) company after retiring from the U.S. Army as a command sergeant major. “I grew up in the HVAC industry,” Ron notes. “My dad instilled in me a strong work ethic, and taught me the importance of going above and beyond when it comes to customer service.”
The Lucas family moved to the Columbus-area when Ron was just 8 years old, so he considers himself a Fountain City native. After graduating from The Brookstone School, Ron went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Auburn University in 1991. He began remodeling homes in 1994, and fell in love with the creative process. “My favorite aspect of my career in construction and design is seeing the excitement on clients’ faces as we move toward the end of their projects, a time when they can see results taking shape.”
When he’s not working, Ron can be found on the trails riding his bike or on the links aiming for a hole in one. He also enjoys building furniture, a pastime he’s incorporated into his career at R Lucas Construction and Design.
Ann G. Tankersley
Ann grew up in West Point, Ga., then attended high school at Paideia School in Atlanta. Her skills and passion for art took her to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. A 10-year job as Creative Director at Batson-Cook Construction, where her father and grandfather spent their careers, grew her interest in construction while gaining experience in all aspects of Marketing and Environmental Design.
When she met her husband Lance Tankersley, who worked at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center at Columbus State University, she moved back “home” to the Chattahoochee Valley to start their family. When her son Cliff was a toddler, she earned her master’s degree online at SCAD, this time in Interior Design. She continues to offer Interior Design services through her own business, ANN TANKERSLEY DESIGN.
Ann joined R Lucas Construction and Design in April 2016 and is enjoying learning the “nuts and bolts” of residential construction. Learn more about Ann’s partnership with R Lucas Construction and Design in this 2016 Ledger-Enquirer article.
When not on the job, Ann says she enjoys traveling on her own and with her family, reading, swimming, boating, and shopping for vintage treasures.
Columbus native Leslie Butler joined the R Lucas Construction and Design team as Financial Controller in June 2013. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Columbus State University. “The most fun part of my job is watching Ron transform clients’ homes from ordinary and mundane to something I would see in Architectural Digest,” says Leslie.
When she’s not crunching numbers, Leslie enjoys reading, spending time with friends, autumn beach trips and summer vacations to the mountains.
